New IP67 Outdoor Antennas: Better Coverage for Your Teltonika Routers

outdoor antenna for routers

On August 21, 2024, Teltonika announced its new line of omnidirectional outdoor antennas. These antennas are made to work perfectly with some of Teltonika’s routers, especially for Internet of Things (IoT) projects used outside. Let’s look at what makes these new add-ons special.

Tough Antennas for Outdoor Use

Teltonika already offers many add-ons for its network products, including power supplies for different countries, ways to mount the products, connectors, and antennas. These antennas help boost wireless signals, which is great for IoT projects in areas with poor coverage.

The new outdoor antennas are a big addition to this product line. They’re made to fit specific Teltonika routers perfectly.

Made to Match Teltonika Routers

These antennas were designed with a special goal: to work really well with certain Teltonika cellular routers. This makes it easier to set them up and ensures they fit together perfectly.

There are four different antennas:

  1. One for the RUTX50 and RUTM50
  2. One for RUT2-series routers like RUT241
  3. One for RUT9-series routers like RUT956
  4. One for the RUTX11 and RUTM11

These antennas don’t need their own power. The routers they’re made for can be powered using a special cable (sold separately). They also come with a built-in bracket, so you can easily mount them on a wall, ceiling, pole, or mast.

IP67: Keeps Out Water and Dust

These antennas have a special cover called IP67. This means:

  • They can work in very cold or hot weather (-40°C to 75°C)
  • They’re protected if they’re underwater up to 1 meter deep
  • No dust can get inside them

This makes them great for use in places with sandstorms or heavy rain. You could use them for smart farms, outdoor cameras, public Wi-Fi, mining and construction sites, camping, and many other things.

Whether they’re in a dry desert in Australia, during India’s rainy season, or in always-rainy cities like Seattle, these antennas help keep the internet connection going and protect the router inside.

Better Signal and Coverage

On average, these outdoor antennas make the signal 20 times stronger than a normal antenna. In good weather, they can reach 5-8 km for mobile connections.

Each of the four antennas is a bit different:

  1. The one for RUTX50 and RUTM50 works with 5G/4G, Wi-Fi, and GPS. It has seven connectors.
  2. The one for RUT2-series works with 4G and Wi-Fi. It has three connectors.
  3. The one for RUT9-series works with 4G, GPS, and Wi-Fi. It has five connectors.
  4. The one for RUTX11 and RUTM11 works with 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It has six connectors.
